FINALLY!!! PRESIDENT BUHARI APPOINTS MINISTER FOR PETROLEUM RESOURCES

Amid the speculation concerning the ministerial list, President Muhammadu Buhari has come up with the first crucial appointment in his cabinet.

According to Premium Times, the Nigerian leader broke the news about the Ministry of Petroleum head on Tuesday, September 29, in New York in the course of the Global Leaders’ Summit on Countering ISIL and Violent Extremism.

It should be recalled that shortly after the May 29 inauguration indications emerged that Buhari was set to appoint himself at the petroleum minister as “nobody’s hands are clean enough to do the surgical changes needed”, which was said by one of the president’s associates.

Buhari yesterday unveiled the new appointee for the position, and that is himself. “I will remain minister of petroleum. I will appoint a minister of State for Petroleum.” The Nigerian leader, who had identified anti-graft war as one of his government’s priorities, explained that the aim of the move was to ensure eliminating corruption and massive theft in the sector.

The politician further vowed to start the probe of the corrupt officials of the past administrations involved in public funds stealing using the NNPC revenue. As for the other candidacies, which Buhari had promised to forward till the end of September, their names are expected to be directed to the National Assembly today.
Welcoming Nigeria’s senators on Tuesday after the recess, Senate president Bukola Saraki noted that the screening process would be very accurate.

“As we await the list of ministerial nominees this week, we are prepared to treat the screening with dispatch but with thoroughness. I believe the presence of ministers will create the space for greater policy engagement with the executive arm of government.

“I want to urge you all my colleagues to ensure that what is uppermost in our minds as we begin the constitutional task of screening of ministerial nominees is the overall interest of our country.

“Once the list is submitted, let us ensure that we treat it with dispatch and thoroughness. We must not be held down by unnecessary politicking. The enormity of our national challenges at this time does not give room for pettiness or politics of vendetta.”

President Buhari has been harshly criticized over his delay in appointing the cabinet. However, in a recent period the president has vowed several times to make up his mind on the ministers till the end of September. This topic has become one of the most widely discussed political issues in the country.

UNBELIEVABLE!!! As President Buhari Orders Closure Of Aso Rock Villa Church

President Muhammadu Buhari has moved against Christian religious activities within the precincts of the Aso Rock presidential villa, a source familiar with the matter has disclosed to The Trent.

The Aso Rock Villa Chapel serves as the official church of Aso Rock where Christian activities inside the presidential villa are conducted.

According to an eyewitness who spoke to The Trent on Thursday, September 3, 2015 on condition of anonymity, heavily armed men stormed the Aso Rock Chapel on Sunday, August 30, 2015 denying worshippers access to the church.

“Normally, services begin by 7am at the church but when we got there, we met armed security men who said we cannot enter. They said they were acting on orders from above. We waited outside till a few minutes past 8am before they allowed us to enter,” the source disclosed.

A visibly embarrassed Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who worships at the Villa Church, arrived the Chapel and could be seen managing to conceal a worried expression over the incident.

When our reporter contacted Presidential Spokesman Garba Shehu to confirm the development, he claimed he was not aware of the incident. “What you are telling me is news to me. I am not aware of this issue. There is a lot we are dealing with and I hope you are aware the church was handed over to Vice President Osinbajo. So please call Prince Laolu Akande, his spokesman to confirm this issue”, he said.

Further investigations by The Trent have revealed that Sunday’s move was the second in a series of brazen attempts to shut down Christian activities in the Villa.
Less than two months ago, the Children’s Church of the Villa Chapel where the wife of the Vice President, Mrs. Oludolapo Osinbajo worships with the children was closed down on orders from above. According to our source, “security concerns were given as reasons for the closure of the Children’s Church.”

Attempts by this newspaper to reach Vice-Presidential spokesman Laolu Akande failed as his phone lines were unreachable at the time of filing in this report.
